Benjamin Zimmer is an avid follower of East Asian security issues with a focus on the Korean peninsula and North Korean politics. Currently, I am a Program Aide with the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University while pursuing a variety of independent research projects on China and North Korea. My general research interests include authoritarian politics, North Korean foreign policy, economic statecraft, comparative politics, and East Asian security. My research has appeared in or is under review with peer-reviewed journals such as Security Challenges and The Journal of Sino-American Affairs as well as in policy outlets such as NKNews, the Asia Times, Charged Affairs, and the Houston Chronicle, among others.

I graduated in 2020 with a Master in International Affairs Degree from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. In 2016, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Asian Studies, with a minor in Korean Language and Culture from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
